KENIC the domain registry in Kenya has introduced a grandfathering phase which is currently open and will run until 22nd Dec 2017. During this phase, existing third level domain owners (eg me.co.ke) will be able to register similar names on the second level (i.e me.ke). All applications should be accompanied by business registration certificates as proof of ownership.
